In celebration of Earth Day, Sprint has announced their second eco-friendly device. The Samsung Restore is made of more than 80% recycled materials overall, including a 20% recycled materials shell. The packaging will be 100% recyclable, made of mostly post-consumer recycled materials and printed with soy ink. The charger carries the Energy Star label, and instead of a traditional paper user manual, the manual for the Restore will be online.
The Restore follows Sprint’s original eco-friendly phone, the Reclaim. The Reclaim is made of 80% recycled materials.
Sprint’s sustainability program, ECOmmitment, keeps the company to several green standards. By 2017, they have committed to using 10% renewable energy, collect an amount equal to 90% of the devices they sell for recycling, and recycle 50% of operational waste. They have also eliminated the use of styrofoam cups.
