Fight World Hunger

Free Rice is a savvy website mixing education with eradicating world hunger.  When you visit the site, you will be asked a series of vocabulary questions.  Each correct answer results in 10 grains of rice donated to hungry people worldwide through the UN World Food Programme.  10 questions = 100 grains of rice to feed those in need in places like Bangladesh, Cambodia and Myanmar.  The more you play, the more you learn.  The more you learn, the more you help.  Think you know too much vocabulary?  Try your hand at other subjects like chemical symbols,  world capitals, or famous paintings.  The program is supported by generous donations, and partners with the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

Some statistics:
Every 6 seconds a child dies hungry.
In 2010, a billion people will experience hunger.
One billion grains of rice feeds 50,000 people for one day.
In the year 2009, 16 billion grains of rice were donated through Free Rice.
In the month of May alone, more than one million grains of rice have been donated.
